'All truths are easy to understand once you have discovered them; the point is to discover them.' Galileo Galilei

Welcome to the RE Department at Holsworthy College. We believe that Religious Education is a vital area of study that provides pupils with the opportunity to learn about the world around them. We seek to encourage a reflective approach to different cultures and religions in our weekly RE lessons in order to encourage diversity and independence of thought. We aim for our pupils to be better informed about current affairs and to be able to make a well explained and reasoned judgement about these events. We therefore strive to foster a love of the subject we teach through exciting and innovative lessons, using a variety of teaching methods which is delivered by enthusiastic and committed staff.

Central to our RE lessons is the exploration of different cultures and religions, whilst asking key questions. These questions include – ‘What do I believe? What happens when I die? How was the world created? How responsible am I for looking after the world around us? Is animal testing right? These are just some of the moral, philosophical and spiritual questions that are asked in RE at Holsworthy College, across Key Stage Three and Four.

We study the six global religions of Christianity, Judaism, Islam, Sikhism, Hinduism and Buddhism across the Key Stages. Please click below on our Schemes of Work for each year group to investigate our lessons and activities further.
